We still think about these tacos - arguably the best fusion/modern/non-traditional tacos we've had!

The Food: No need to look at their menu, just trust me. Order the Brisket Burrito...& find someone to split with because it's HUGE. I tried several of their tacos and other plates which were all good but none beat this monstrous burrito covered in queso and filled with savory barbacoa goodness! Easily feeds two hungry adults - which also makes it a great deal at $15! Service: We went to Chivo on a Saturday with a large group of 10 and were seated immediately. The service was quick and accommodating to our large party.

Chivo was so good. There was a little bit of a wait but it was well worth it. It's in a historic building in downtown Knoxville and each brick feels like history. The waiter, Chris, was very attentive and provided amazing service. My wife had the tacos and my son and I had quesadillas. We all shared churros afterward and we were in heaven. I was only able to snap a picture of my quesadilla.

After a Saturday Farmers Market foray, my wife and I decided to stop in at Chivos for lunch. I varied from my usual fare and ordered the Wedge Salad which is a generous wedge of crispy ice cold iceberg lettuce, dressed with bleu cheese dressing with dime-sized bleu cheese chunks and some amazing cherry vinaigrette, topped with chicharrones fried to perfection and toasted Pepitas. Wow! What a fantastic salad. I also ordered the No Meat? Guacward which is a quarter of an avocado, breaded and deep fried, placed on a flour taco size tortilla, sprinkled with cojita cheese, and plated with tantalizing pickled onion rings. Mmmmmmmm goooood!! My wife ordered the chicken quesadilla that was equally delectable. Our server, Juan Pablo, with his million $$ smile, was attentive to our every need.

After buying bright red, ripe tomatoes and sweet onions at the at the Market Square farmers market, we sauntered down the street to Chivo Taqueria for some of their tasty fixings. We snagged a table outside under the solo umbrella and ordered a wedge salad, a taco and a chicken quesadilla. Our cheery server returned about 10 minutes later with two beautifully plated meals. My spouse raved about the delicious greens topped with chicarrones, chunky bleu cheese dressing with a cherry drizzle, and peppitas; three small tomato wedges also adorned the plate. Inside his tasty guactaco, was one quarter of a crispy deep-fried avocado along with other goodies. My quesadilla, cut into four sections, spilled over with chunky chicken, black beans, corn, jalapeños and gooey cheese. Everything so delicioso! Ice cold water with lemon slices was our beverage of choice. We left with satisfied appetites and headed home to make homemade salsa with our fresh tomatoes and onions (and garlic and jalapeños as well).

I had been here a couple years ago and didn't love the service but came back since all my coworkers love the tacos. The menu has fun names for their tacos! I ended up getting the fish taco and the steak taco. Both were delicious. We also started with chips with salsa and queso. I liked the chips a lot. They are thick. Our waitress was also super friendly and loved that she was able to recommend her favorites. I'm glad I came back for a second time and most likely will come back to try other tacos I didn't get a chance to.

We had a really good but interesting but still good experience here. My brother had just finished running the Knoxville marathon, wanted to come pig out somewhere, and chose Chivo. We had some family visiting to support his Herculean marathon effort and were trying to coordinate parking, meetup time, etc. This proved to be too difficult for my family, so my husband and I were seated and stranded there while the rest of my family went back to my brother's. The staff was super understanding and lovely, and while we didn't wanna occupy a large table at lunch time we settled on just getting takeout. This type of place isn't something I would generally gravitate to, with its flashy decor and wacky names for pricey tacos, but it was actually pretty good! We got an assortment of different tacos to go that we all enjoyed. The side of black beans was also pretty special. Overall we had a great experience. Maybe next time we'll get to dine in!
